Combining both the charming village of Portmerion and stunning Snowdonia, we have something for everyone on this holiday to North Wales. We travel west breaking our journey in the elegant spa town of Cheltenham, heading onwards after lunch to Holme Lacy. Arriving mid-afternoon there is time to explore before dinner and the nights entertainment!
Portmeirion is a delightful village in North Wales, designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village. The village is well known for the 1960’s television series The Prisoner and comprises of a cluster of colour-washed building around a central piazza, scenic surrounding, gift shops, spa and award winning restaurants.
We include a scenic drive through Snowdonia enroute to Portmeirion.
Today we visit the historic towns of Caernafon and Conwy, both with imposing UNESCO World Heritage listed castles. In Caernafon there will be time to explore the centre, where you might want to visit the harbour, or the roman fort. Conwy also has a quaint harbour and Castle, this time accessed by a suspension bridge.
Sadly we travel home today, making a stop enroute to arrive home in the late afternoon.
Warner Bodelwyddan Caslte is a Grade II listed Victorian building near the North Wales coast, not far from Snowdonia. It is set in the stunning grounds of a romantic castle, but with all the facilities you would expect from a 4* Warner Leisure Hotels property.
