Lake District

Follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth as you explore the stunning Lake District. Wordsworth was inspired by the beauty and grandeur of this National Park as you can witness some spectacular sights on our tour of Cumbria, which includes two lake cruises, a railway journey and a distillery tour with tasting. 

Itinerary

Day 1

We travel west breaking our journey in the elegant spa town of Cheltenham, heading onwards after lunch to Holme Lacy. Arriving mid-afternoon there is time to explore before dinner and the nights entertainment!

Included Excursion - Lakes Distillery, Keswick and Grasmere

Take a scenic drive past Lake Windermere, Thirlmere Reservoir then Bassenthwaite Lake to the Lakes Distillery where a tour and tasting of their own whisky, gin or vodka awaits. Depart for time at leisure in Keswick, which i surrounded by some of the area’s highest and most beautiful peaks.

In the afternoon, spend time in Grasmere where you might want to visit Dove Cottage or the Wordsworth Museum (admission not included).

Included Excursion - Haverthwaite to Lakeside Railway & Lake Windermere

A leisurely morning beginning with a short heritage rail journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. No visit to the Lake District would be complete without a cruise, and it is from here you will said across Lake Windermere to Bowness. After disembarking, explore this popular holiday village at leisure. There are cafes, restaurants, shops and places to visit, such as the World of Beatrix Potter attraction.

Included Excursion - Lake Ullswater Cruise & Penrith

This morning, head north towards Lake Ullswater for another relaxing cruise. On then to the Cumbrian town of Penrith, rich in history and the hub of the Eden Valley. this afternoon, spend time in Ambleside and see Waterhead, where the sweeping views across Lake Windermere and fells cannot be missed.

Day 5

Sadly we travel home today, making a stop enroute to arrive home in the late afternoon.

Tour Hotel & Location

The Riverside Hotel in Kendal is a converted 18th century tannery, located on the on the banks of the River Kent beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th Century castle. A short walk away is the centre of this famous Lake District market town with its bustling shops, galleries and museums.

This 3* hotel has a leisure club, including indoor swimming pool which guests can use and there is a lift to most floors.
