We are delighted to be heading to the North East in 2019. After our previous trip to Northumberland a couple of years ago, we head to the heritage of the city of Durham, the living museum of the north at Beamish and stay a Jacobean country house hotel.
We make our way north to Country Durham and our four night stay at the lovely Redworth Hall Hotel. We will, of course, have a break in the journey somewhere interesting to stretch your legs.
Discover the captivating medieval city of Durham, the jewel in the crown of an extraordinary country and a wonderful place to explore with ancient winding streets packed with history, culture and stunning architecture, including the magnificent Norman Castle and Cathedral.
Today we have a scenic excursion through the Durham Dales, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, via Weardale through to Alston and via Teesdale to the market town of Barnard Castle with its popular Wednesday market.
After lunch, we visit Raby Castle, one of England’s finest medieval castles.
Step back in time at Beamish, where the past is brought vividly to life. Nestling in 300 acres of beautiful countryside, visit Pockerley with its stunning manor house and railway, and take a tram ride through a real Edwardian market town with its painstakingly and lovingly rebuilt houses and shops.
Sadly we travel home today, making a stop enroute to arrive home in the late afternoon.
The 4* Redworth Hall Hotel located in the County Durham countryside. Set in 150 acres of landscaped gardens and ground, this atmospheric hotel has excellent leisure facilities including a spa.
